Hey all, I've bitten the bullet and released Just BASIC v2.0. The Just BASIC website at www.justbasic.com has been updated to reflect this. Thanks for all your help testing Just BASIC. :-)

Carl, following your link I came to JB page with screenshot of JB 1.0 beta linking to JB 1.0 exe and conforums forum! Doesn't feels good for me.
I think it actually was reported: following link www.justbasic.comopens www.justbasic.com/index.htm- old page. Clicking on "home" link ends up with www.justbasic.com/index.html- new page. Please get rid of old page and make sure new one gets picked up every time.

Thanks, I'm not even sure how it is doing that. index.html is supposed to be loaded by default, but I can see your're right. -Carl

Simply because this is how Microsoft dictates how modern Applications Must store their data files. The main files are stored in Windows x86 directory which is heavily protected from virus attack. appdata allows new files and file alterations.
So it is all to do with anti virus protection.
You can work in your own directory like c:\basic and you can create a desktop short cut to the example files or indeed you can copy everything to your own directory, remember to copy the sub directories in appdata as well.
Once you know how to get to appdata most folk just leave everything where it is and usually just code their own projects in their own directory.

Yeah, this is pretty much how it works now, and in fact Microsoft has been warning people that they were going to force us to do it this way for a long time. I think it's pretty half baked, but when I say this I always seem to get attacked by different people for saying it. Security is a fine thing, but do it in a way that the user doesn't pull out hair. -Carl

I have gotten few little scattered snips of the [lack of a] future for Just Basic 2.* in other places. Now I do realize that crystal balls can be somewhat cloudy but I wonder if we could have a statement here, from the powers that be, of the future of 2.x and beyond?
thanks \s\Rick

For what it is supposed to be I think it is pretty perfect, a beginners introduction to modern BASIC that enables GUI. So not sure what needs fixed. If by upgrade path you mean migration to other platforms that will come in the form of LB5.
But I am less convinced about the other platform drive. I can’t imagine enjoying coding on my iPad, linux is a hugely different beast if your history is Windows. I won’t say too much about my iMac experience save to say I am still coding on a pc.
So the thing to do is to stop worrying what it might be and start enjoying and mastering what it is now. Most folks only scratch the surface of what Just BASIC is capable of.
