Hi everyone. great program JB. Thanks to the dev for writing it.
I have an issue I hope can be overcome. My eyes ache and headaches are often since I started programming in JB because of the bright white background in the editor. I was wondering/hoping that could be changed in the JB "ini" file to use a different background color.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this?
Thank you for any effort......
P.S. I'm on Linux Mint using WINE to run JB. I did go into the WINE configuration and changed "window background to grey (to test) and it did turn the background grey, but as soon as I clicked in the JB editor window it went back to white again.

Never mind everyone I figured it out. I guess I posted too soon. For anyone else who wants to know the cure.... In the WINE configuration utility set WINE to use Windows version XP. I had it on Win10, and Win7(test) then tried XP and it now allows the change to a grey (or any other) background in the JB editor. I'll be back, I'm loving JB > I started out using Basic on a TRS80 a couple of years ago.

Glad you could work it out. I was going to suggest a 3rd party editor that you can work with through JB. Since you have Linux maybe geany or something used by coders. I use Notepad++ if I want to fix indenting in blocks.
Welcome to forum, look forward to your input.

Hi B+, thanks for the info. I may need to use another editor. I got the grey background I wanted, but lost the color coding for some odd reason. I can only get black text now.(Unless I go back to a white background) I like the color coding in JB and would like to keep it if there is a way. So, so questions if you have the time, or if anyone else has overcome this issue please respond.. 1. Does JB use an ini or config file where I can edit for background color and keep color coded text option functional? 2. Is there another editor out there that will allow color coding on a colored background. I've tried a few IDE's but not one so far has support for JB coding or Basic using color coded text. Almost every other language is supported but Basic .....go figure. lol [edit] Notepad++ has support for color coding in 2 different Basic languages, but I'm still trying to change it's background color .....Changing in the WINE config doesn't change the background color for Notepad++ for some reason. I am determined. I may have to use redshift to dim the screen instead. Anyway thanks again B+. If you have any other ideas/brainstorm my ears are open

In Notepad++, under Settings menu there is Style Configurator. In this window, top combobox is Select theme. Give it a try

Nope, it only changes one line temporarily when clicked on then reverts to white when moving to a new line. But hey, every idea is worth a shot. I think it is either I get one or the other (grey background or color coding) It must be a thing with "colored" backgrounds. Maybe there is 2 layers to a "Window Background" when using a color other than white. hmmm
I'll use redshift for now I guess. But I will keep trying. Thanks B+
P.S. In case you do not know redshift is a kind of night setting for screen brightness in Linux something like the night light in Windows10

xxgeek , well if you decide on external editor, read JB Help about setting up connections to External programs. Run that from Setup Externals from IDE Setup Menus. All your edits will be automatically updated in the JB editor although copy/paste is pretty easy already! in fact, I see I haven't updated with JB 2.0 upgrade (which I can't say enough, so nice to have Help ready a mouse click away!)

YES!! I have notepadQQ installed but I like notepad++ even better, thanks. Also I downloaded the portable version so it has no menu item ---yet. Using the "external editor" option will be a bonus.
I'm still rooting around in JB finding all the built in options etc and I saw that option just wasn't sure what it was. Now I will have to keep track of what editor I am actually in before a "debug" or a save. lol Your help is appreciated B+. When/if I can help others I will. Later friend..
