My GUI layouts using text code are typically trial and error - I guess the approximate position of each element and then adjust the x and y parameters until they are exactly as I want them.
Is there a graphics utility to support selection of window element type (eg label, drop down box etc), configuration (eg text font etc), and position which generates the window code for inclusion in a JB program? JB help suggests such a facility exists, but I can't locate it to try.

Hi click22, haven't you tried Freeform-j? It comes with JB. Better if you have JB 2.0, you get the upgraded version.

Just BASIC is easy, Windows is harder. Now a days programs need to keep their code in a new facility called %appdata% , this is a special folder that is created for every user of the pc or laptop.
When you start your pc you will log in. Either as joe blogs or as administrator. Most pc’s are set up to log users in as a single user, not as admin. This will all be transparent to you. You will start your pc and it will ask for a password,
To get past all this crap you need to change preferences in just BASIC. When you first start JB it is set to load no known file on startup and it will be pointing at %appdata% when you open a file. Freeform.bas will be visinble as will all sample .bas files. Load anything that interest you.
If you set preferences to load the most recent file or a specific file you can lose track of %appdata% so simply set preferences back to loading no file and restart just BASIC. That is the easy way to find %appdata%
It’s not about Just BASIC it’s all about hackers and Windows protection from hackers and viruses. We have to live with it.
Play, experiment and keep asking questions.

Apologies for my delayed reply; I've been away.
I modified my JB2 start-up option to 'no file' as you recommended, then clicked run/1) FreeForm GUI editor. This produces an error message telling me that 'the system cannot find the file specified'. Any ideas where I go from here?

Here is where you should find the Freeform.bas source file (see attached): Don't know why it is not setup under your Run menu? Attachments:

Thanks, I've finally located the file. All I have to do now is figure out how to use it! Can I connect it to the link in the 'run' menu?
I've sussed it thanks.

Click, when you get something sussed share it. That’s what the forum is really about. We don’t have all the answers, most of us are not new to Just BASIC so share your learning experience.
