Icon for a program we make - finding picking or by other sou

Just BASIC v2 has an icon maker,editor,write-to-runtime file tool.

I have found difficulty doing a satisfying web search for 32 by 32 *.ico program icons, in the variety that I would want. There found were some sites with icons of PNG, and SVG, and other things. So can one take a photograph with a camera (digital,...) and in some way work with that to take a limited part of the photograph to manage into an icon for one of our programs? So far, I tried MAKING A DRAWING directly in the JB Icon Editor and saved it, but I wonder about any neater ways.

Googling says GIMP could save ICO files

So if it does, take picture you found/icon from other site in any other format
(no need to photograph!)
, open it in GIM then save as ICO file.

EDIT
not sure but write-to-runtime might not work with more then 16 color ICO
try some other resource editor
(resource editor, resource hacker, whatever) to change ICO in EXE file.

I actually did find an icon site which had an icon of a coffee bean, and the colorings appeared simplified enough; and now I forgot which site it was from.

I did that initially and almost all I found was either not free, or no icons as *.ico type.
Then I finally found something, downloaded an icon; but I cannot remember which site it was.

I so again wonder, could I make my own icon. I drew one with JB's Icon tool, but it does not look great.
