hi all, can we close main window as we do for other windows? for example we can write 'close #wh' if the window is opened using the hadle #wh. I guess similarly some handle is used internally by JB to open and close main window if so revealing the name of main window handle will be useful in many programs to close the main window as soon as the program terminates. Or suggest me any other way to close main window through program. I request Carl to respond on this issue. thank you all in advance

Hi zzz000abc,
Do you mean NOMAINWIN ? Or do you mean setting the preferences at not automatic opening the MAINWIN when debugging?

On the other hand, if you want to be able to show and hide the main window, there is no built in command for that. That's an idea for the future perhaps. For example perhaps we could add: MAINWIN HIDE and MAINWIN SHOW

i am not talking about NOMAINWIN .i want a command or way to close the main window simultaneously while terminating the program but it is now clear that it is not possible . thank you Gordan and thank you Carl for quick response.

You mean the ide, the editor. Create a .tkn file or a .exe file then the editor will never be seen.

I have written the following code and converted the .bas file into .tkn and .exe and tested all the 3 files namely .bas .tkn and .exe print "hello world" input"enter to quit";a end
the main window not closed when .bas and .tkn were run but closed for .exe

Yes, sorry, .exe. The reason is that the ide is the development Environment and it hangs about till you are confident enough in your program to run it as an .exe.

Oops, sorry I misunderstood you. You're right. The Main window is not the MainWin.
The IDE (editor) stays open until you deliberately closes it. It will even ask you if you have saved your work!
One more time my excuses.
