error setting font in JB IDE

I do not remember if I changed font in IDE on this computer

(Win 10 home, 32 bit)

but probably I did.

But now then I select from a menu Setup\Editor font
(or Setup\Printer font) I get an error
Runtime error: The File or directory is corrupted and unreadable(Os error 16r570)

It looks like it is windows error number 0x570 
and I got it even if I run fontDialog example from JB2 help file

(interesting but I get same error in Setup\Editor font

(or Setup\Printer font) in JB 1.01)

What might be the case \how to fix that?
Google suggested control panel memory test and chkdsk, both found nothing.

And- weird but I *had* it working today again, for a short time (I tried fontDialog example from JB2 help - it worked- then it worked from setup-then after checks I reboot and now it doesn't work again).

Ah ha! Here is an update to get the Setup > Editor Font to work maybe:

I think all you need do is have a default printer. Windows offers several default printers print to file etc. So you don’t actually need a working printer just a default printer ticked.

Yes if it is ticked from the JB menu. Yes after it was ticked from JB menu (after selecting Print off the File Menu) you can turn off and disconnect the Printer and it still works.


I did not try ticking from JB menu File > Print with the printer off and unplugged from computer so that might work too but I think you have to tell JB what the default printer is through JB menu File > Print, because the Windows setting alone wasn't working.

Where is JB storing this information? I could find no init like file either under Windows Programs JB v2.0 nor Roaming Data JB v2.0.

It is not a Just BASIC fix. Essentially Windows needs to have a default printer which is a Windows fix. Then Just BASIC will run. Is a bug.

I dunno now it worked for me
I think it is Windows. They broke it then on some update they fixed it.
(but I do have default printer now - I don't remember the reason but font was left unchanged, so I was not aware of it being fixed)

Dang, I just assumed it was broken still when I tried the Print menu, could have been a Windows fix then...?


Aha! found the ini file under Roaming/Just BASIC v2.0 folder, the editfont is the first line in it.
