Obviously there is not much info in that. Did JB works on your setup at all? (rights problem, data execution prevention setting) If it does, did that program worked before? Was it program change, could you pinpoint it.

If you can’t even start the Just basic ide then you have DEP set to stop programs running. Use the Windows help system to set DEP to its default setting that protects Windows and System file but allows programs like Just Basic to run.
Let us know how you get on.
If it is an error during a program run you will need to give us more of a clue as to what code you are running when the error occurs.

It's a shame that Microsoft does not provide a helpful message when DEP kills your program, something like "Windows attempted to run application X but DEP stopped it. Follow this link to configure DEP settings." Or something like that.

When I doubleclick on jbasic.exe, I get this:

Then you need to fix your DEP setting. Set it to its default setting. Use Windows help system to see how to do that.
I ran through the process on my Win10 Machine older systems may vary slightly, so use the Windows Help to get the exact process for youry OS.
1) type sysdm.cpl into the windows search box bottom left of your desktop.
2) Windows will list the applet sysdm.cpl, click on it to start the System Properties dialog
3) Click on the Advanced tab
4) Click on Performance [settings]
5) Click on the DEP tab
6) Ensure that the checkbox is set for "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programmes and services"
7) Click Apply
8) Reboot your PC
Let us know how you get on.

It would be interesting to know how your PC got to be so protected. Did it come like that out the box? Was it a corporate machine? Or did you set it up to be super secure yourself?

I paid for premium anti-malware and anti DDOS protection, as well as multiple (and long) pen testing hours. I needed a secure PC.

Ah, I use Windows integrated defender package. No cost, no hassle, no trouble to date. Clocks counting twelve years plus on defender.

Hi Rod & Co This was a revelation to me too, when finally getting a Win11 HP because our dying XPS could not handle it.
The error with a JustBasic program did not happen straight after uninstalling the 'free' macafee trial version, and replacing it with avast. It occurred after doing other things such as initial updates but I am still not sure exactly which installation caused it.
A search had been extremely confusing until one of the links led back here, so thank you very much indeed :-)
All the best Chris

From time to time in Windows 11, the Dep setting reverted to default - so had to use:-
'Turn on DEP for all programs...except..." Then 'Add' Then navigate to e.g.'Basic Program.30exe' and select it, for it to appear in the box below Apply
