Maybe Rod and tsh73 and ALL those others from the past that have been so helpful and patient should be paid too!

They never asked for any money, but I invite them to speak for themselves. If you feel so strongly about it I invite you to send them some money.

No you misunderstand, I feel strongly about NOT charging money to learn Just Basic, specially the BASIC parts of Just Basic. It might make sense for advanced levels of Liberty Basic, perhaps a subscription to LB with lessons.

The information about how to program in Just BASIC has always been free and will continue to be free. Access to a private forum for a fee is not the same thing.

Bluatigro is referring to the University, the LB University. Private classes, a course, and all that stuff, it was available in the past. It's online teaching.

The idea that this forum is free is amusing. The original benefactor was John. Stefan Pendle has since adopted and paid for the forum. I have assisted with free page views although Stefan has just paid for 100k views!
So a few dedicted folks have funded and supported this user forum . We do it because we love BASIC, we love this BASIC and we love helping and being challenged by forum members.
The university can only help build the user base, forum content and membership.
The free model has been shown to fail more than once. So when I find something I enjoy a few bucks to ensure its survival ain’t so bad.
It’s a very delicate balance, but sitting thinking this is all free is not s good starting point.
Even when you pay nothing is guaranteed. Both Stefan, myself and other supporters sunk hundreds of dollars into a wiki system that failed us. So more positive support of all things that encourage involvement would be welcome.

Bandwidth and storage all impact the price. Add fee helps most users. Stefan also funds the Archives resource. He also is attempting to rescue the LBPE. Unsung heros and all that!

Can we not be both teachers and students in one person? bluatigro: "whit only edit acces from teatcher's" Oh! this looks like you want to write a tutorials without questions distracting your lectures. For this I have a suggestion: write the whole thing out and post in a series on a thread in Shared Programs board, label the series XYZ Tutorial. Then, when the lecture is done, take questions and comments. Or break the lectures up with Intermissions of questions and comments.
